What is felt sheet (namda)?

Felt sheet, called namda (نمدہ) in Pakistan, is made by pressing wool fibres together with heat, moisture and pressure until they lock into a dense, solid sheet. It has no threads like woven cloth, so it does not fray when it is cut. Our felt is 100% wool, hard pressed into firm rolls. Wool felt holds oil, springs back after it is pressed, absorbs shock and does not burn easily, which is why industrial woolen felt is used for oil seals and wicks, machine pads, polishing and padding in factories and workshops.

Felt sheet and namda rolls are available in Pakistan from A.Q TRADERS in Karachi. We import our felt ourselves, so there are no middlemen: you get consistent, high-quality woolen felt at competitive rates, from 1 roll to bulk orders.

Benefits of woolen felt sheet

  • Holds oil: high oil retention, so felt wicks, oil seals and lubrication pads keep moving parts oiled for longer.
  • Springs back: high elasticity means it recovers after being pressed, so it keeps sealing and cushioning.
  • Absorbs shock and vibration: cushions machines, tools and fragile goods, and cuts noise.
  • Resists fire: wool is naturally self-extinguishing, so the felt does not keep burning like synthetic padding.
  • Handles heat: works continuously up to +120°C, around motors, machines and warm equipment.
  • Cuts cleanly: hard-pressed felt cuts neatly with a knife or die and does not fray at the edges.

Felt sheet (namda) questions

What is the price of felt sheet (namda) in Pakistan?

It depends on thickness, colour, quantity and the current import cost. We quote per roll, per metre or per kg. Send us those details on WhatsApp and we’ll give you today’s rate.

Is felt sheet the same as namda?

Yes. Namda (نمدہ) is the local name for pressed wool felt. Felt sheet, namda, woolen felt, wool felt and industrial felt all mean the same kind of material.

Is your felt 100% wool?

Yes. Our felt is 100% pressed wool fibre. Compared with synthetic (polyester) felt, wool felt holds more oil, springs back better and resists fire, which matters for oil seals, machine pads and padding near heat.

Do you sell coloured craft felt?

No. We supply industrial hard-pressed wool felt in rolls, 3 mm to 50 mm thick, in natural off-white, grey and white. We do not stock thin coloured craft felt sheets for schools or hobbies.

Is wool felt fire resistant?

Wool is naturally self-extinguishing, so our felt does not keep burning when the flame is removed. It works continuously up to +120°C. For hotter jobs, such as boilers and furnaces, use our rock wool or ceramic wool insulation instead.

How much does a felt roll weigh?

Each 1 mm of thickness weighs about 0.2 to 0.45 kg per m², depending on how hard it is pressed. A full 1.2 m × 10 m roll of 10 mm felt weighs roughly 24 to 54 kg.

Can I buy less than a full roll?

Yes. We sell felt sheet by the metre or kg, or cut to the size you need. There is no minimum order.

Do you deliver felt sheet outside Karachi?

Yes. We deliver to every city in Pakistan. Most orders reach Lahore and Islamabad in 2 to 3 days.
