What is SBR rubber?
SBR, or styrene butadiene rubber, is the most widely used general-purpose synthetic rubber. It is tough, wears well and costs less than speciality rubbers, so SBR rubber sheet is the usual choice for flooring, mats, workbench tops, truck beds, and gaskets and washers for water and air. Where a job does not involve oil, fuel or long exposure to strong sun, SBR gives the best value.

What is SBR rubber?
SBR stands for styrene butadiene rubber. It is a synthetic rubber and the most common general-purpose rubber sheet, chosen because it is tough, hard-wearing and economical.
SBR, neoprene or nitrile: which rubber sheet should I buy?
SBR is the economical choice for flooring, mats, benches, and gaskets for water and air. It is not oil resistant, and strong sun cracks it over time. For oil, petrol or diesel, choose nitrile (NBR). For outdoor use and some oil resistance, choose neoprene. For hot water, steam and long outdoor exposure, choose EPDM.
What colours does SBR rubber sheet come in?
We stock SBR rubber sheet in black, grey, green and blue. Black is the most common for industrial use. Grey, green and blue are popular for flooring, mats and colour-coding work areas.
Is SBR rubber sheet good for flooring?
Yes. SBR is hard-wearing, cushions the floor and gives good grip. Use 3 to 6 mm for workshops and commercial floors, 8 to 10 mm for heavy-duty areas, and 12 mm or more for loading bays and cattle stalls.
How much does an SBR rubber sheet weigh?
Each 1 mm of thickness weighs about 1.5 kg per m². A full 1.2 m × 10 m roll of 3 mm sheet weighs about 54 kg, and a roll of 6 mm about 108 kg.
