What is silicone foam sheet?
Silicone foam sheet, also called silicone sponge sheet, is silicone rubber expanded into millions of tiny sealed air cells. Ours is closed-cell, so the cells do not connect: water, dust and air cannot pass through. The result is a soft, light, compressible sheet that keeps silicone’s heat resistance, which makes it the choice for heat press pads, seals on oven and machine doors, and electrical enclosures, where a solid rubber sheet would be too hard to seal with low pressure.

Is silicone foam the same as silicone sponge?
Both names are used for expanded silicone rubber. In the trade, silicone sponge usually means closed-cell material, and silicone foam can be open or closed-cell. Our sheet is closed-cell, so it is a silicone sponge sheet as well as a silicone foam sheet.
What does closed-cell mean?
The tiny air cells inside the sheet are sealed and do not connect to each other. Water, dust and air cannot pass through, so closed-cell foam makes a proper seal. Open-cell foam is more like a kitchen sponge and lets air and water through.
Silicone foam sheet or solid silicone rubber sheet: which should I buy?
Choose silicone foam for soft seals that close with light pressure, uneven gaps, heat press pads and cushioning. Choose solid silicone rubber sheet for gaskets under higher pressure, for harder wear, and for food contact, as our solid silicone sheet is food grade.
Which hardness is best for a heat press pad?
Medium (20 to 25 Shore A) in 8 to 10 mm is a common choice for heat press pads, as it spreads pressure evenly and holds its shape. Soft (10 to 15 Shore A) suits presses that need extra cushioning. Tell us your machine and we will recommend the right one.
Is your silicone foam sheet food grade?
No. Our silicone foam sheet is a high-temperature industrial grade and is not meant for direct food contact. For food contact, use our food grade silicone rubber sheet.
