What is neoprene rubber?
Neoprene, also called CR or chloroprene rubber, is a synthetic rubber known for standing up to oil, weather and ozone better than natural or SBR rubber. It stays flexible, seals well and absorbs shock, which makes neoprene rubber sheet one of the most widely used materials for gaskets, seals, pads and linings in factories, workshops and outdoor installations.

Is neoprene the same as CR or chloroprene rubber?
Yes. Neoprene is the common name for chloroprene rubber, often shortened to CR. Neoprene rubber sheet, CR rubber sheet and chloroprene rubber sheet all mean the same material.
Neoprene, nitrile or EPDM: which rubber sheet should I buy?
Neoprene is the best all-rounder, with good resistance to oil, weather and ozone. For constant contact with petrol, diesel or hydraulic oil, nitrile (NBR) is better. For hot water, steam and long outdoor exposure, choose EPDM. Tell us where it will be used and we will recommend the right one.
Should I buy plain or cloth insertion neoprene sheet?
Plain neoprene sheet is solid rubber all the way through. It is soft and stretches easily, so it is the usual choice for gaskets, seals, washers and anti-vibration pads. Cloth insertion neoprene sheet has layers of fabric built inside, which stop it stretching and make it much stronger. Choose it for high-pressure flange gaskets, flap valves, diaphragms, and chute and hopper linings.
Which thickness is best for gaskets?
3 mm is the most common thickness for flange and pump gaskets. Use 1 to 2 mm for thin covers and washers, and 5 to 6 mm where the surfaces are uneven or the gap is larger. For high-pressure flanges, choose cloth insertion sheet.
How much does a neoprene rubber sheet weigh?
Each 1 mm of thickness weighs about 1.45 kg per m². A full 1.2 m × 10 m roll of 3 mm sheet weighs about 52 kg, and a roll of 6 mm about 104 kg.
