Insulation supplier in Karachi since 1964

A.Q TRADERS has supplied insulation to HVAC contractors, factories, builders, bakeries and power plants from Saddar, Karachi since 1964. We import every insulation material we sell ourselves, so there are no middlemen: you get consistent, high-quality insulation at competitive rates, from 1 roll to bulk orders.

Each insulation material is made for a different temperature range. Rubber foam keeps AC ducts and chilled water pipes cold and dry, glass wool keeps roofs and buildings cool, rock wool handles boilers, steam lines and fire walls, and ceramic wool lines furnaces and kilns. Compare them below to find the right one for your job.

Choosing the right insulation

  • Start with the temperature: choose a material rated above the surface temperature. Up to 105°C and for cold lines, rubber foam. Up to 250°C, glass wool. Up to 750°C, rock wool. Above that, ceramic wool.
  • Cold lines need a vapour barrier: for AC ducts and chilled water pipes, closed-cell rubber foam stops condensation on its own. Glass wool on cold ducts needs FSK foil facing.
  • Thickness: thicker insulation saves more energy. As a guide, 13 to 25 mm rubber foam for AC lines, 2 inch glass wool under hot roofs, 50 mm rock wool on steam lines, and 50 mm ceramic wool or more inside furnaces.
  • Density: higher density insulation is firmer, absorbs more sound and holds up better at high temperatures.
  • Roll sizes: rubber foam 1.2 m × 20 m, glass wool 1.2 m × 10 m and 20 m, rock wool 1 m × 3 m, and ceramic wool 610 mm × 7.2 m.
  • How we sell: full roll or cut to size, and glass wool and rubber foam also by the foot or metre. There is no minimum order.

Insulation questions

What is the price of insulation material in Pakistan?

It depends on the material, thickness, density, roll size, quantity and the current import cost. Glass wool is the most economical, rubber foam and rock wool are mid-priced, and ceramic wool costs more. Send us the details on WhatsApp and we’ll give you today’s rate.

Which insulation is best for a hot metal roof?

2 inch glass wool with FSK aluminium foil is the most common choice under metal roof sheets in Pakistan. The foil reflects heat and the glass wool slows it down. Where fire safety matters most, use rock wool.

Which insulation is best for AC ducts and chilled water pipes?

Closed-cell rubber foam (elastomeric) insulation. It keeps the cold in and stops ducts and pipes from sweating. 13 mm is common for AC ducts, and 19 to 25 mm for chilled water lines in humid cities like Karachi.

Which insulation is best for boilers and steam pipes?

Rock wool, which works up to 750°C. 50 mm is the most common thickness for steam lines, and 100 mm for boilers and high-temperature equipment. For surfaces hotter than 750°C, such as furnace linings, use ceramic wool.

What is the difference between glass wool, rock wool and ceramic wool?

Glass wool is light and economical, for roofs, ducts and ceilings up to 250°C. Rock wool is denser and works up to 750°C, for boilers, steam lines and fire walls. Ceramic wool is rated to 1260°C, for furnaces, kilns and ovens.

Which insulation is non-combustible?

Rock wool is rated Class A1 non-combustible, the highest fire rating, and ceramic wool is non-combustible refractory material. Glass fibres do not burn. Rubber foam is self-extinguishing but is not non-combustible.

Do you sell insulation by the roll or by the foot?

Both. We sell every material by the full roll or cut to size, and glass wool and rubber foam also by the foot or metre. There is no minimum order.

Are you an insulation importer or a dealer?

We import all our insulation ourselves and have supplied from our shop in Saddar, Karachi since 1964. Buying direct means no middlemen, consistent quality and competitive rates.

Do you deliver insulation outside Karachi?

Yes. We deliver to every city in Pakistan, including Lahore, Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Faisalabad, Multan, Peshawar and Quetta. Most orders reach Lahore and Islamabad in 2 to 3 days.
