What is nitrile rubber?
Nitrile rubber, also called NBR, nitrile butadiene rubber or Buna-N, is the synthetic rubber made for oil. Where ordinary rubber swells, softens and fails when it touches petrol, diesel or hydraulic oil, nitrile keeps its shape and keeps sealing. That makes nitrile rubber sheet the standard choice for oil-resistant gaskets and seals in engines, generators, pumps, hydraulic systems and fuel lines.

Is nitrile the same as NBR or Buna-N?
Yes. Nitrile rubber, NBR (nitrile butadiene rubber) and Buna-N all mean the same material. Nitrile rubber sheet, NBR rubber sheet and oil-resistant rubber sheet are different names for the same product.
Nitrile or neoprene: which is better for oil?
Nitrile is better for oil. Choose it for constant contact with petrol, diesel, hydraulic oil and grease. Neoprene handles some oil but is better outdoors, in sun and weather. For water, air and flooring, SBR is the economical choice.
Which oils and fluids is nitrile rubber sheet resistant to?
It has excellent resistance to petrol, diesel, kerosene, hydraulic oil, lubricating oil, grease and many solvents. It is not suitable for brake fluid, solvents such as acetone and MEK, or strong acids. Tell us the fluid and we will confirm it is right for the job.
Can nitrile rubber sheet be used outdoors?
Only for short periods or where it is covered. Long exposure to strong sun and ozone makes nitrile crack over time. For outdoor seals, choose neoprene or EPDM.
How much does a nitrile rubber sheet weigh?
Each 1 mm of thickness weighs about 1.4 kg per m². A full 1.2 m × 10 m roll of 3 mm sheet weighs about 50 kg, and a roll of 6 mm about 100 kg.
